Distance Learning Education System in India

In a recent public appearance, while inaugurating the three day national workshop on distance learning, honourable Mr. S K Sinha, Governor Jammu & Kashmir, referred to the distance learning education system as the most suitable learning schema to reach remote areas. The special reference in the speech was towards provision of education, in the areas untouched by tradition classroom learning modules and thus appropriateness of this counter program. While the stated is certainly a wise call, however as an education seeker, there definitely is much more to analyze, before enrolling with a distance learning curriculum.

  • If things are not going your way at your current job, start preparing yourself mentally for the prospect of a career change Even though we know that things are not going the way we want them to, most of us try and hide, ostrich-like, from the truth. Business changes are a fact of life, so it’s no use denying that you never saw, the writing on the wall. There are always signs before such are always signs before such a major change takes place. Even those who are unwilling to face the situations have to admit that job switches never happen overnight. Such situations always take a long time to reach, but most of us only sit up and take notice only when things spiral out of control. Most of us are genuinely insecure of change, and so we end up convincing our selves that there is no need to change. But rather than running way from the problem, you need to face the situation head on and take firm control. Keep your eyes open. If you see or feel that things are not panning out the way you’d like to at your current job, you need to start preparing yourself mentally for the prospect of a career change. How do you do this? First of all, you need to push yourself to start looking around and putting your feelers out to find out where there are opportunities for you to grab. Being without a job naturally means being without money, and this can only lead to insecurity. So now that you know that you are in for a career change, you need to start being slightly tight-fisted. Draw up a plan that helps you manage your finances in such a manner that you are freed of debt. Keep at least six month’s living expenses aside as a sort of nest egg in order to help you survive a possible job loss. Surviving a period such as this entails creating your own opportunities, and freeing yourself from any insecurities that you may have. Above all, you need to be prepared for any eventuality keep an ear to the ground and your network in place, and you, will fine that the going won’t be as hard as you think it might be. #
  • SEO is an acronym for "search engine optimization" or "search engine optimizer." Deciding to hire an SEO is a big decision that can potentially improve your site and save time, but you can also risk damage to your site and reputation. Make sure to research the potential advantages as well as the damage that an irresponsible SEO can do to your site. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of searches, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. Read More at Wikipedia | Google #
  • The OLPC project aims to revolutionize education in developing nations, and has the potential to become a transformational tool, says Nivedan Prakash When Nicholas Negroponte from MIT Media Labs started the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) initiative back in 2005, as an education project, he probably had not imagined that his pet project would be adopted on such a large scale across the world. The reason behind the rapid penetration of this initiative is that Negroponte has always projected OLPC as a non-profit organization providing a means to an end—that sees children in even the most remote regions of the globe being given the opportunity to tap into their own potential, to be exposed to a whole world of ideas, and to contribute to a more productive and saner world community. The genesis of the OLPC project has always been to look at multiple aspects of education wherein developing countries have been starved of quality education for lack of proper teaching tools, inconsistent content, etc. The basic idea is to give every child a laptop and to reach emerging markets and developing economies where PC penetration is low. To this end, the aim has been to market an affordable $100 notebook. some -extracts XO laptops The OLPC initiative has morphed into a device called the XO laptop, which focuses on primary schools that does not have access to PCs. The XO is a potent learning tool created expressly for children in developing countries, living in some of the most remote environments. The laptop was designed collaboratively by experts from both academia and industry, bringing together both extraordinary talent and many decades of collective field experience for every aspect of this nonprofit humanitarian project.
